First-ever IB CP Student-led Conference in the Asia Pacific

Renaissance College Hong Kong, together with Shatin College Hong Kong, Prem International School Chiang Mai, Al Jabra Islamic School Jakarta and Western International School Shanghai, collaborated to host the first-ever IB CP Student-led Conference in the Asia Pacific on 24 and 25 March 2022. RCHK students were mentored by IB Career-related Programme Coordinator Ms. Wilma Shen.

The IB Career-related Programme (IB CP), like the Diploma Programme (DP), is an academic programme open to students entering their final two years of Secondary school. It is a hybrid model combining the rigour of the Diploma programme and a career focus, that provides new alternative pathways for students who prefer a more hands-on learning style, and those with a firm career focus that suit a specialist approach for their learning. Renaissance College was the first CP school in Hong Kong and east Asia, and the 8th school in the world to offer all four IB programmes back in 2013.

This IB CP Student Conference aimed to connect CP students from around the world to share experiences and ideas. We believe that this collaboration will aid our students in developing a greater intercultural understanding of each other, while at the same time, inspiring other fellow CP students to make a difference.

The students took the initiative to work with each other over six months from October 2021 to March 2022 and as a result, brought on the conference over these two days to showcase how the CP helped them develop skills and knowledge, connected them with their passion and career aspiration, as well as prepared them for the future challenges and opportunities. They shared their learning experiences in different areas of the CP, interviewed industry people and CP alumni students. Many students collaborated on different sections of the conference, took the lead as well as acted as effective team players throughout the course of the conference.

Through working with each other collegiately, the students showed the world what the IB CP is and what various CP students are doing in their respective CP schools, leaving a footprint for many others to follow and making a difference in the future of the CP.
