Wishing you all a very Happy Chinese New Year as we usher in the Year of the Metal Rat!
According to Chinese astrology, rats are considered intelligent, energetic, and able to adapt to any situation, and solve each problem with ease – just as our students from Primary and Secondary whilst putting together a week-full of exciting workshops and assemblies celebrating New Year 🐭.
Last Friday our Primary students put on a show to impress – from performing Chinese instruments, traditional dances and dances with a hiphop take, to drumming and dragon dancing! Our Primary Chinese department held its first Chinese Laisee Design Contest in the month of December. Students voted for their favourite designs from each year level. The winning designs were then made into actual laisee packets for sale to the school community and quickly sold out in 3 days – well done to our little designers! Make sure to catch the entire Primary assembly here if you missed out.
The Secondary assembly followed a week after, with a remarkable show featuring cultural music, dance and skit. We also welcomed back the very talented student dragon dancers from Li Po Chun United World College for another unforgettable performance!
Props to both the Primary and Secondary Chinese Departments for weeks of hard work that clearly paid off
